Being a ‘people-person’ he loves telling jokes to his patients and is known for taking his guitar and play some tunes upon request. From time to time he has been prone to do a magic trick or bring out his beloved Noodles puppet to bring a delightful smile on a timid child. He has always believed that patients are people first with real issues and concerns when it comes to their health so his approach is to first understand the patient who has the problem rather than the problem the patient has. He loves to bring out a smile whether you are young or older.

Dr. Alan Friedler has been a trusted and respected dentist in the Greater New Haven area and the Connecticut Shoreline for over 35 years. He has served the needs of local and regional families for generations and his experience ranges from general family dentistry to cosmetic, restorative and implant services. Doc, as he is known to his friends and patients, is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education and the Center for Dental Implants among many others. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a Fellow of the International Dental Implant Association. He is certified in hard and soft tissue laser therapies. Doc has dedicated decades of service as a Clinical Instructor at the Yale General Practice Residency as well as the Hospital of St. Raphael’s Oral Surgery Residency Program. He is a past Chairman of Ethics of the New Haven Dental Association and past examiner for the Peer Review Committee of the New Haven Dental Association.

Doc has volunteered his services abroad to indigenous communities in Ecuador and in the Dominican Republic. In the process, he has become quite proficient in Spanish. In the United States, he has offered his services to the Special Olympics and he is an avid supporter of our Veterans.

Doc resides in Madison, CT. with his wife Laurie. He is the proud father of three grown sons. Doc is a music enthusiast and you can sometimes see him take out his guitar to play for a patient or at local venues. He loves photography, golf, and model railroading. Dr. Friedler is passionate about chess and has taught many children the game, creating many aficionados along the way.
